Questions? Let’s Talk It Through
Hi, I’m Chad, the owner of The Hamlin Group. We know letting a remodeler into your home is a big decision. It’s not just about construction, it’s about trust, your family’s comfort, and the way you want to live in your home for years to come.
That’s why we take every question seriously, from timelines to budgets to who will actually be in your house. Below you’ll find honest answers to the things homeowners ask us most. If you don’t see your question here, or you’d rather talk it out, just reach out. We’ll be glad to walk you through it.
Frequently Asked Questions
What makes you different from other remodelers?
Most contractors are either builders or designers. We’re both. Chad Hamlin is a licensed architect and a licensed contractor, which is quite a rare combination. That means we can picture your finished space long before construction begins and carry it through to completion with precision.
How do you handle budgets?
We’re careful stewards of your money. That means transparency about costs, pushing back if something doesn’t make financial sense, and helping you prioritize where to invest for the most value. Sometimes that means scaling back finishes, but never cutting corners.
Do you offer stand-alone architectural plans?
No. We’re not an architecture firm, we’re a design-build company. If we do drawings, it’s because we’re doing the build. That way your vision and the construction are seamlessly connected. Already have plans from another architect? We’re glad to build from them.
What does a bathroom remodel cost?
A full bathroom remodel starts around $35,000. From there, it depends on finishes. We’ve also done quarter-million-dollar baths with spa-level detail. It’s all about what you want the space to become.
What do homeowners usually want in their basements?
Entertainment and family space. Game rooms, theaters, guest suites, and bathrooms are common. It’s about taking space that isn’t being used and turning it into something that improves everyday life.
What’s your philosophy on quality?
If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right. That’s how Chad’s father raised him, and it’s how we run this company. “Good enough” doesn’t cut it here. Every project, whether it’s a $35,000 bathroom or a $300,000 kitchen, gets the same relentless attention to detail.
Will I actually work with Chad, the owner, or just a salesperson?
You’ll meet with Chad. He still makes it a priority to personally sit down with each client, from the first consultation through the final walkthrough. He’s not swinging the hammer anymore, but he’s deeply involved in major decisions and quality control.
How long does a kitchen remodel take?
Most kitchens take 3–4 months, start to finish. That includes design decisions, ordering materials, and the build itself. It’s not three months of dust; much of that time is careful planning so things run smoothly once we’re on site.
Why do so many homeowners come to you for bathroom remodels?
Two reasons: dated finishes and builder-grade shortcuts. Luxury homes built in the 80s, 90s, or 2000s often have bathrooms that feel stuck in time. Even newer homes may have builder-grade baths that don’t match the rest of the house. We help “level them up.”
Why do you prefer remodeling older homes instead of building new?
Because there’s character worth saving. We love honoring what makes a home unique while bringing it up to today’s standards. Remodeling also avoids the risks of speculative new builds. With older homes, we’ve seen the pitfalls often enough to know how to navigate them, and most of the time, we can provide you with what you want without requiring you to move.
