Telford Drive Basement

A year or so back, we were fortunate enough to be contacted by a young Brookhaven couple.  They had already put forth quite a bit of sweat equity into making their Brookhaven house a home.  The first order of business for us was to create a spiral staircase from the very useable main level to the very un-useable basement.  The basement was old, dingy, dark and not a place that added any value to the home aside from a place to store old paint.

The homeowner had a vision and needed a design build partner that could join them in that vision.  Once the stair was completed in phase one, we began planning for phase two.  Phase two fought us the entire way.  There was not a wall that plumb, a floor surface that was flat or a ceiling joist that was level.  Beyond that, the space was extremely tight.  Our ultimate goal was to create a welcoming living space, along with a fully functional laundry room and full bath.  That was a tall order and was very much a game of inches.

We have been a part of a lot of wonderful transformations, but I can honestly say that this is one of our favorites.  The success of this project had everything to do with the owner’s vision, our determination to make it happen in the best way possible and the awesome cooperation from our client and the City of Brookhaven.  We love the finished product and hope that you will agree!  THG.
